EGO-defense mechanisms employed by the subconscious mind to ward off anxiety and protect the conscious mind from emotional pain. ... Ego is temporary wouldn't you say? So, I looked in the mirror and this is what I realized. This article is dissing those that train hard and compete just as hard, but can't seem to make it to the top of the "board." I am a CrossFit fan and I love to watch the competitions. The CrossFit 2010 games were off the hook. What I noticed and was excited about was, you could train and train, but you did not know what game you would be competing for until it was announced before the events. "OK," I trained hard, ate healthy, mentally ready, physically able and emotionally excited, but yet; I failed. My ego is my imaginary friend- he was with me when I was only imaginin... - It's not the mirror those "egotistical competitors" need Katie, they need to be accepted for who they are. When I think of CrossFitters, I see strong, beautiful and contagiously happy men and women that are committed to what CrossFit is.........The Next Best Sport! To conclude, when Egos reads this post, they are gonna dump their imaginary friend and wish for another President like Theodore Roosevelt. Thanks Katie, A CrossFit Fan for life,,,,,,,Belinda ...Master Games 2012 |

Great article! Humility is, to me, the most important aspect of crossfit. You will never get better until you check you ego at the door and go lose. Lose a lot. Learn from those who kick your ass and just work on beating yourself. All too often great athletes get stuck in a rut after a loss and they become scared to compete. Taking your medicine and getting back on that horse are what makes crossfit so great. Thanks for the great insight!
