just a quick reminder not to argue with your judges what they say is what it is...good or bad!
Hello, my name is Jud Dean and I grew up in Lewes Delaware, and then later moved to Harrington where I attended Lake Forest High School. In high school I was very athletic. I played football, basketball, and golf. It was in high school that I fell in love with working out, and have been training ever since. My first strength coach was an Ex Navy Seal; it was from him that I learned the power of the movements but more importantly the strength of the mind. I was a lifeguard in the summer on the Delaware beaches in a town called Bethany. Over my years guarding the ocean I made well over 100 rescues, the most rescues in one day was eight. It was during this time as a lifeguard that I really learned the most about team dynamics. Our workouts were done as a group to help build trust and teamwork, so that when the crowds filled the beach and the surf got big you knew you could trust the guards around you.
I then attended the United States Coast Guard Academy and played football for 3 years before transferring to the University of Delaware and getting my B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics. While in college I ran a program called Teen Fitness Advantage which was a fitness program for 6th 7th and 8th graders. When I learned how to capture and keep the attention of middle school age kids; I knew I could teach anyone how to exercise. While lifeguarding in Bethany Beach, I started training with a friend preparing to leave for training as a Navy Seal. I trained with him for two years in Annapolis, Maryland along with another Ex Navy Seal, Stew Smith. With Stew I learned the benefits of military style fitness and enhanced even more my ability to understand that it is not the body that limits us but the mind. After graduation, from University of Delaware, I started working as the head trainer and nutrition counselor for Fusion Fitness Center in Newark Delaware. I have been working there for 3 1/2 years. While there, my client base has varied from 14 year olds to 73 year olds. I am the program director for our Fusion F.I.T. camps which are weekend boot camp style workouts which take place at the local parks. I am certified as a personal trainer, a lifestyle and fitness coach, an Alpha Male Master Trainer, a CrossFit Olympic Lifting Coach, and a CrossFit coach.
I have worked with multiple fitness magazines and also worked on two fitness books. The Swat Workout by Stew Smith and The Alpha Male Challenge by James Villepigue and Rick Collins which is published by Men's Health
Some things that I enjoy doing outside of the gym are: Long board surfing, Swimming, Hunting, golfing, volleyball, cooking, and training/playing with my boxer Diesel.
